Journaling is a form of externalization that has really taken off over the last decade as the need for self-reflection and accountability has increased among the general population.
It is a very therapeutic practice and I recommend you block out some time for it. Or else, it can feel like work.
Traditionally journaling is meant to be physical.
But with the rise of digital systems like Notion, maintaining digital journals makes more sense, so that some of the data points in those journals can be fed to other systems we maintain in Notion, leading to the emergence of new insights.
So for example, if we had a “task management” system, we could import data from our journal about our daily habits and see how those habits affect our daily productivity, what habits have the greatest impact, and so on.
